For a pro golfer, Scheffler’s got a pretty loose swing
Billy Horschel is a good man, so glad to see him win. I've watched the highlights of all of his matches this week and it struck me how much of a decent person he is. He looks his opponents in the eye and engages with them. For me that shows admirable sportmanship. Well done Billy.
Both of these guys seemed exhausted. Think of all the golf they had already played by the time of this match. This tournament is a real grind but one of the best of the season.
The beauty of match play is watching a match like Scheffler v Rahm where there are something like 16 birdies between them. Neither guy deserves not to advance, but Scheffler just kept making them to prevail. Then there's the championship match where both guys are off their game and it becomes a day of survival. I just love match play. It's really too bad there's not a way to make the last matches a better presentation for TV audiences, but even when they're good matches the final tends to drag on and on and on.
